Summary
Code name Verity is a story told by Verity; who is also known as Julie Beaufort-Stuart. Julie is a Scottish aristocrat and also a spy. She is currently being held hostage by the Nazi’s in the Ormaie, France; which is currently being occupied. She ends up writing her confession; letting the Nazi regime everything she knows about the British War efforts. She does this to avoid any further interrogation; where she was the victim of extreme and terrible tortures. While is telling everything, she knows about the British war effort; she beings to tell the story of her best friend Maddie; who happens to be a pilot. We become witness to their beginning stages of their friendship. The story ends; when Julie runs out of time to tell her captives any vital information.
The second part of the book is told by Maddie right after crash landing in France. She works with the French Resistance to try to save Julie; but unfortunately, they are not able to so do. In order to be saved; Julie asks Maddie to kill her rather than be suffering at the hands of the Nazi regime. To avenge her friend’s death; Maddie vows to complete the mission as well as to set her Jessica’s name as free

book whose setting is during wartime; specifically, during World War II. The
book is a 2012 Boston Globe Horn Book Honors Books a 2013 Edgar Award Winner,
2013 Michael L Printz Honor Books. It
was also a 2013 Golden Kite Honor Book and is listed on the Barnes & Noble’s
Best Teens Book list for 2012. The book
is well written taking into account the time setting of WWII and thus making
sure that all the background information was correct.
